Stonequarry Creek Project

Last modified: January 13, 2005 - 9:57 AM

The Stonequarry Creek Vegetation Management Project is designed to address flood mitigation in Picton.

The Project involves clearing weeds from Stonequarry Creek and replacing them with local native species propagated by volunteers at the Community Nursery.

Grasses and low growing shrubs have been planted closer to the creek, with trees planted higher on the banks. These works will act to smooth the course of flow in the Creek, thus allowing the flow of water to move faster in a flood event and reducing flood risk in the town of Picton, by 0.4 metres on average.

For more information about the Stonequarry Creek Project please click here or phone the Project Coordinator on 4677 1155.
