The Wollondilly Water Savings Action Plan was developed by a team of individuals from within Council ranging from Managers, Technical Staff and Outdoor staff in order to obtain a holistic view of Council’s water use and the opportunities that are available to minimise this water use. The development of the Plan was in response to a legislative requirement placed on local Council‘s by the State Government as part of the Metropolitan Water Plan. The objectives of the Wollondilly Water Savings Action Plan are:
To gain a greater understanding of Council’s water needs and usage patterns. Council received confirmation that the Minister for Water Utilities has approved our Water Savings Action Plan in October 2006. You can download the Plan from the link at the bottom of this page. Council has obtained grant funding from the Water Savings Fund set up by the Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability and the Austrlian Government's Community Water Grants to commence the implementation of Plan. Council has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Sydney Water to participate in their Every Drop Counts Business Program, a water reduction program for businesses and councils. The Every Drop Counts (EDC) Business Program assists Council to understand its systems for water management and aims to promote and drive improvements in water efficiency to reduce water use and to reduce supply costs to Council. This information can then be used in the implementation of our Plan.
