Wollondilly Animal Shelter as at 30 October 2009

Council operates an Animal Shelter for animals lost throughout the Shire.
Please refer to the link at the bottom of the page to view animals currently in the Wollondilly Animal Shelter as at 30 October 2009. Wollondilly Shire Council has extended opening hours at the Wollondilly Animal Shelter (the Pound). This facility is open from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays or contact us on 4677 3921. The weekday hours remain unchanged, Monday to Friday, 3.45pm to 4.30pm (unless an emergency occurs).
Wollondilly's Animal Shelter is located on Wonga Road, Picton and can be contacted via the Council on (02) 4677 1144. Public entry to the Animal Shelter is now via the new Animal Shelter Office located in the Resource Centre between the Animal Shelter and the Council Nursery.
Note: If collecting an animal from the shelter please contact Wollondilly Shire Council on the above number. Fees need to be paid at the Council Chambers on Menangle Street, Picton 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday prior to collecting the animal.
If you need to report a dog attack incident or staying stock on the roadway please ring Council's after hours number (02) 46771100.
Purchase of dogs and cats
You can view the dogs and cats available for purchase at the Animal Shelter during opening hours. Payments can be accepted at the Council Chambers and a the Animal Shelter between opening hours.
The fee includes Registration, Microchipping, De-sexing, vaccination and heart worm test .
Sale
The charges in purchasing an animal from the shelter are –
- Standard - $290.00
- Pensioner - $265.00 - with proof of pension card
Release of Dogs/Cats to Owners
Fees vary between animals. All dogs and cats must be microchipped and lifetime registered before the dog or cat leaves the shelter.
Registration (Fees set by State Government Legislation).
Non de-sexed animal: $150.00
De-sexed animal: $40.00
De-sexed animal purchased by pensioner (with proof of pension card): $15.00
Non de-sexed animal purchased by pensioner: $150
Breeder (with proof of breeder card): $40
Microchipping
Microchip: $55.00
Impoundment fees
- Maintenance per day: $25
- Release: $50
Please contact Wollondilly Shire Council on (02) 4677 1144 if your animal is missing and your details and animal details will be logged into a register. (So if anyone reports that they have found an animal matching the description of your animal we can contact you).

Release of Stock to Owners
As per release of dogs and cats fees vary between stock.
Impoundment fees
- Maintenance per day: $15
- Release: $50
The impounding costs of the stock fee must also be included in the total.
