| International Day of People with a disAbility - Wollondilly Celebration Breakfast - 3/12/09 - 03 Dec 2009
For the past eight years the Wollondilly Disability Access Advisory Committee and Wollondilly Shire Council have hosted events in Wollondilly to celebrate
International Day of People with a disAbility.
Held around the world on the 3 December it is an opportunity for the whole Community to come together, share their abilities and gain a greater awareness of issues facing people who have a disability and their carers. In 2009 two FREE events are planned with activities to ensure that everyone can be involved around the theme of “Accessing your Community”.
The Wollondilly Celebration Breakfast will be held on
Thursday 3 December 2009
7am at the Picton Bowling Club
A wonderful morning to enjoy a hearty breakfast, participate in activities and hear from our guest speaker Jodie De Ruvo from Nova employment, a young woman who uses a wheelchair and has gained independence through looking outside the square. Two companies who provide accessible vehicle companies will have their vehicles on display and the usual bags full of information will be provided.

An opportunity for everyone to get active and join in the fun and performances, whilst having a celebration lunch. A Performance Challenge has been put out to local post school and day program services to show their ability on the dance floor or on stage with the DJ music. This is an opportunity for all those that could not make the Celebration Breakfast to be involved.
How to get involved
Everyone in the Community is invited to be part of the celebrations. The Breakfast and the Luncheon event are both provided free of charge through the generous support of local businesses, community groups and Wollondilly Shire Council.

| Harvest Markets - 6/12/09 - 06 Dec 2009
Harvest Markets - first Sunday of each month and will be for agricultural producers and associated "Rural" trader displays and demonstrations.
The team from the Wollondilly Visitor Information Centre are pleased to announce the commencement of their newest project "Creative Traders".
Creative Traders will be an on-going program of market style displays and retailing opportunities every Sunday of each month throughout the year. The markets will trade between 10am and 3pm which will tap into the high visitation hours for tourists.
Creative Traders will be situated in the gardens of the historic Old Picton Post Office on the corner of Argyle and Menangle Streets in Picton. The Old Picton Post Office is the home of the Wollondilly Visitor Information Centre which enjoys high visitation from both locals and visitors on Sundays.
The mini market style events will not be accepting the usual "Paddy's Markets" style of traders. We are keen to keep this opportunity for Wollondilly stakeholders to showcase the high quality merchandise produced within the Shire. more .. |

Two big events on one day! Wollondilly Library and Information Service will be holding the very popular ‘Book Sale’ and ‘Living Library’ event to coincide with the Creative Trader’s Harvest Market on Sunday 6 December 2009.
The Book Sale
Pre-loved library stock and donated books the library can’t use, some in new condition, will be sold at bargain prices. We have a large range of fiction, non-fiction and children's books available. Shoppers can fill a cloth bag for only $5 or purchase individual items from as little as 20 cents each. So come along and bag a bargain!

You’re invited to come along and read a book with a difference! Our books in the Living Library are people with a story to tell.
What is a Living Library?
The Living Library offers borrowers an opportunity to understand the lives of people in their community better—such as those who have faced hardship or prejudice, but also people from diverse life experiences and backgrounds. It is just like a regular library with one difference: in the Living Library people are the ‘books’.
