What is the effect of having an approval to operate my septic tank?
The Government introduced new regularity tools, which enable fees to be charged for this service in relation to existing septic tanks systems, when required. During the financial year, Council received in excess of 200 complaints about failing septic tank systems, which may have serious implications for both public health and the environment. The legislation permits Council to charge an additional inspection fee should this be required. The new approval process allows authorities to issue on the spot fines for not complying with the Licence to Operate.
