How much does a rezoning cost and what information must be submitted?

An initial request should comprise information and details relating to the land (physical description) a description of the proposed land use, a description of how the proposed use meets relevant local, regional and state planning strategies and policies.

The application must also be accompanied by the prescribed payment (2008/09 this is $15,450 - refer to Council's adopted Schedule of Fees and Charges) the information provided by the applicant should be sufficiently detailed to enable a planner to make an assessment and report the request to Council. In accordance with Council's standing notification policy, all neighbouring landowners will be advised of the receipt of the rezoning request.

Should Council agree to commence preparation of Local Environmental Studies and the Draft Plan, and where Council's delegations permit Council to undertake the public exhibition of the Draft Plan (and associated studies), other fees may be chargeable depending on the size of the project. Council generally requires that the costs of undertaking Local Environmental Studies and other specialist studies or reports be fully financed by the applicant.
