Transport Forum Highly CommendedLast modified: September 21, 2009 - 3:35 PM
Wollondilly Shire Council has received a “highly commended” award for the community engagement process undertaken for the Wollondilly Transport Forum that we hosted in June. The award was from the Local Government Managers Association 2009 Management Excellence Awards. The Transport Forum was recognised in the category of “Engaging and Serving Communities”. The Wollondilly Transport Forum process involved gathering a range of evidenced based solutions to transport through the development and dissemination of a transport discussion paper that generated community debate around the locally contentious issue of transport. The community engagement process was designed using Council’s Community Engagement Framework to enable a broad range of opportunities for participation for the Wollondilly community. The LGMA NSW Management Excellence Awards are integral to the pursuit of excellence and improvement in Local Government. These awards recognise outstanding and innovative leaders, managers and their Councils in addition to our emerging leaders – the next generation. The awards constitute the most prestigious event in NSW Local Government. “We are so proud to be recognised for our work on the Transport Forum. The award was presented for excellent work on engaging the community in relation to transport issues. Council put a lot of resources and time into the Forum and the results have been very informative,” said Mayor Cr Michael Banasik.
