Economic development aims to secure an increasing standard of living for residents in the region through the ongoing development of the local economy. This is achieved through the collaboration of governments, industries, and communities, to help ensure that economic outcomes are met for the continual thriving of the region and its residents.

Ecomonic Development Strategy

The Economic Development strategy has three main goals that it wishes to achieve for the Wollondilly Shire. These are:

Economic Diversity – encourage growth of non-mining sectors in order to diversify the economy and align it closer with the Metropolitan region by 2050.

More Jobs – encourage the growth of over 6,800 new jobs by 2025 to decrease the proportion of resident workers leaving the shire every day by 50%.

More Investment – Encourage more than $100 million in investment per year until 2025.
