Soil tests help you better understand your soil chemistry and guide soil health and nutrient management on your farm but interpreting the results can be tricky.
Come along to this one day workshop, with soils expert David Hardwick from Soil Land Food to gain an introduction to understanding soil tests. You will learn how to make sense of your soil test results and how to identify soil constraints and key nutrient issues. This workshop will help you be more informed about your soil test when getting agronomic advice.
The workshop will explore:
- Organic Matter/Carbon
- Soil pH
- Key nutrients such as Cation Exchange Capacity and cation balances, phosphorus and sulphur
- Soil constraints such as salinity, acidity etc.
- Options to improve soil fertility
You will be need to bring soil test results from your property to the workshop. You may already have recent results of a soil test OR you may choose to test your soil. If you do, make sure you give yourself enough time to get these soil test results back before the start of the workshop.
