Do you want to help monitor platypus populations in the Wollondilly region as part of an exciting project that seeks to conserve this iconic species?
Council is working with the Australian Platypus Conservancy (APC) to launch an innovative new program that uses ‘next generation’ citizen science to keep track of local platypus numbers.
Geoff Williams, Director of the Conservancy, will be presenting a free platypus information session on Wednesday 17 August starting at 6.30pm at the Wollondilly Community Nursery. Geoff will highlight the features that make the platypus so special, explain its conservation needs and how to go about helping these animals. He’ll then give some hints on how to look for platypus and outline the possibilities for becoming involved in monitoring.
