Summer Reading Program
Tue, Dec. 1, 2015
Wollondilly Library invites children to read, read, read over the summer holidays. The summer reading program is open to young people of Wollondilly aged up to 18 years. Pick up your goody bag from Tuesday 1 December upon registration at Picton or Mobile Libraries. The Program will run up until 31 January 2016.
Last year the reading program had 290 young people participating. 262 of those were in the junior category and 28 in the young adult category. Worth noting is that last year saw the greatest number of registrations was on our Mobile Libraries – 89 – almost one third of the total received. The total number of books read was 2022, which is an amazing amount, so well done to all who participated.
Reading is an essential skill to achieve success and happiness in life and the Summer Reading program encourages reading in a fun way.
Children are asked to fill out their reading logs and return them as entries in the prize draw for their chance to win a prize. The more books they read, or in the case of the younger readers, the more books that are read to them, the more chances they have of winning a prize.
The theme for reading this year is “Lost Worlds”, but children are encouraged to read any age appropriate books for a chance to win prizes.
