Wollondilly Shire Council is continuing to focus on infrastructure investment with its biggest ever four-year Capital Works program, which will deliver a range of exciting projects across the Shire, adopted at Tuesday’s Council meeting alongside the Delivery Program, Operational Plan, and Budget.
In a significant time in the Shire’s growth, Council has committed to maintaining current levels of service, while having a cash budget surplus to support the future resilience of the organisation.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “Thank you to the community members who took the time to read these important documents and provided feedback during the public exhibition period. These plans and programs form a strategic approach to Wollondilly’s future, and we want to continue to reflect our community’s priorities.”
“Our main focus remains infrastructure investment, with the Capital Works Program totalling $174.8M over the next four years - the largest yet.”
“I’m excited to see the delivery of a range of exciting projects right across the Shire, from Warragamba to Yanderra, including parks and other community spaces, oval upgrades, community hall renewals, road reconstruction works and much more.”
“Strong financial management is central to our future success. Our long-term financial approach is to focus on resourcing to support the delivery of core services for our current community as well as adequately planning for and responding to growth.”
“Despite cost impacts outside of our control, Council will maintain current levels of service across the Shire, and we aim to have a cash budget surplus in line with the Draft Financial Strategy to improve our resilience and long-term financial sustainability.”
“In 2026/27 we will make a substantial and ongoing investment in roads across the Shire of $34M and will continue our focus on the management of Council’s extensive transport infrastructure.”
“We will keep focusing on our customer experience program and continuous improvement, which is having positive outcomes for how we operate across the organisation and how our customers deal with Council.”
“In recent years we have transformed into a modern professional organisation, and I believe we are set up to take a lead role in shaping the future growth of the Shire.”
