Council calls for passionate community members to join Strategic Reference and Advisory Groups
Posted on: 10.05.2022
Wollondilly Council is committed to engaging with the community on key matters and strategic priorities, so is looking for interested community members to join a series of Strategic Reference Groups and Advisory Groups.
Expressions of Interest are now open for anyone interested in joining one of the groups, with an opportunity for residents to share their local knowledge, experience and expertise for the benefit of their community.
Mayor Matt Gould said, “Council has set up a new structure of Strategic Reference Groups and Advisory Groups to provide community members with meaningful opportunities to engage with Council and make Wollondilly even better, together.”
“We are seeking people who are strategic thinkers, as well as those who would like to work with Council at a grass-roots level.”
“There are a range of groups and we need people with a variety of backgrounds, skills and experience to come together and provide ideas and advice that will help shape the future of our Shire.”
“I’d like to thank the dedicated members of our community who have contributed to the previous Community Advisory Committees, and encourage anyone with enthusiasm and relevant knowledge to take a look at the Terms of Reference for the new groups.”
The new Strategic Reference Groups are focused on broad themes; designed to help shape future directions; and will meet on a quarterly schedule. The groups are:
- Place and Landscape
The Advisory Groups will be focused on detail; connected to specialised areas of local interest, knowledge and expertise; and convened as needed. The groups are:
- Indigenous Culture and Heritage
- Disability Access and Inclusion
- Australia Day
- Recovery and Resilience
- Agriculture and Rural Industries
- History and Heritage
If you’d like to apply to be on a Strategic Reference Group or Advisory Group, head to Council’s website https://www.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au/council/meetings/council-committees-and-advisory-groups/strategic-reference-group-and-advisory-group-expression-of-interest/ to click on the one you are interested in.
