REDBANK PARK OPENS AS WOLLONDILLY’S NEWEST RECREATION HUB

Wollondilly Shire Council has officially opened the new multi-faceted recreation area at Redbank Park, delivering a vibrant new space for play, connection and wellbeing.

The official opening on 2 July was attended by Mayor Matt Gould, Greg Warren MP, NSW Government Representative, Judy Hannan, Member for Wollondilly, along with local students who helped celebrate the new community facility.

Mayor Gould thanked the NSW Government for funding over $2 million through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.

As part of the day, students from Picton High School spoke about how the park will support young people as a place to meet, recharge and study outdoors.

Mayor Matt Gould said the upgraded park is designed to support the whole community.

“Redbank Park is now a place where people of all ages can come together, whether it’s for play, exercise, playing with the dog, meeting friends, or simply enjoying some time outside,” Mayor Gould said.

“It was fantastic to hear from Picton High School students speaking about the park as a study hub. This outdoor study space has a range of seating options and a device charging station, which is a fantastic addition.”

“This is exactly what this project is about, creating a welcoming space that locals will use in lots of different ways.”

Delivered as part of the Redbank Park Master Plan the space includes: accessible amenities building, playspace, off-leash dog areas for large and small breeds, carparking, outdoor fitness equipment and an open seating area with charging ports for outdoor study.

Mayor Gould thanked the NSW Government for its contribution through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.

“This project is a great example of what we can achieve when we work in partnership,” he said. “We’re grateful for the NSW Government’s support through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program to help bring this important community space to life.”
