Water infrastructure boost for growing Wilton

Wollondilly Shire Council has enthusiastically welcomed today’s announcement that the NSW Government is moving ahead with critical water and wastewater works to support the new community in the Wilton Growth Area.

On site at Wilton, NSW Minister for Water Rose Jackson announced that Wilton Stage 2 would will provide water and wastewater services for about more 4,000 new homes in the area, doubling the total servicing capacity across Wilton to around 8,000 homes and businesses.

In great news, the contract has now been awarded to upgrade the Wilton Water Resource Recovery Facility, which will significantly increase local wastewater treatment capacity to support future growth and reduce truck movement through the area.

Mayor Matt Gould said, “Wilton is a fantastic community that is growing quickly. I am pleased to see this essential infrastructure being provided by Sydney Water to support this growth and ensure certainty for our residents.  We appreciate Minister Jackson’s efforts to progress this.

“This will address water and sewer issues in Wilton so that this community will have this essential service in place and mean some areas will no longer have to rely on trucks to collect and transport their sewage out of the area. This is a positive outcome that shows that our sustained advocacy is working, and we really appreciate the support of all our local government and business partners."
