Australia Day Celebrations 2019

Wollondilly’s official Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Picton Botanical Gardens from 8am-12pm on 26 January 2019.
The event will feature a variety of free activities and performances, including recognition of some of our amazing local residents with the Australia Day awards.
Mayor Judith Hannan said, ”Wollondilly has a great tradition of coming together as a community to celebrate Australia Day.”
“The 2019 event will be a great opportunity for us to acknowledge our heritage and also to enjoy a fun day out.”
The day will start with a free BBQ breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, tea, coffee and bottled water at 8am, all served by Rotary with all gold coin donations going to Rotary Health.
The Veterans’ Flag Parade will kick off the official part of the day at 9am.
Formalities will include a Citizenship Ceremony and pledge, an Affirmation Ceremony and Australia Day awards. Local dance schools will perform on stage following the official ceremony.
Children of all ages will be able to get up close with some cute animals from the Golden Ridge Mobile Animal farm. There will also be face painting, a jumping castle and a snake show.
Cricket NSW and Football NSW will be attending along with some of the local clubs with junior activities from their grassroots kids programs.
The Mayoral Fishing Competition will be held at the duck pond from 8am till 12pm. The competition is aimed at children under 15 and adult supervision is required.
Activities and local displays will continue until lunchtime, which will be a free sausage sizzle and lamingtons.
