Blaxland Bridge Crossing Update
Posted on: 25.05.2018
Wollondilly Council has confirmed that the Blaxland Crossing Bridge bearing replacement project at Wallacia, a joint project with Penrith City Council, is continuing and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2018.
There have been disruptions with the sewer protection component of the project, which has required rescheduling of individual tasks within the project.
For the remaining weeks of May, Council expects to see the installation of the bridge hydraulic jacking system, removal of the bridge road plates and replacement with asphalt, and delivery on site of the new bearing brackets.
Completion of the sewer protection works and the commencement of the installation of the new bridge bearings is scheduled for early June.
Council’s Manager Infrastructure, Strategy & Planning Mike Nelson said, “The contractor has indicated to Council’s construction project managers that the main works will be completed in June in accordance with the current program.”
“This has been an incredibly complicated project and we’re looking forward to its successful completion,” he said.
Penrith and Wollondilly Council staff are doing everything possible to get the work completed as soon as possible in accordance with the current program.
