Celebrate Library Lovers’ Day in Picton
Posted on: 09.02.2018
Move over Saint Valentine, because 14 February is also Library Lovers’ Day and Picton Library will be celebrating!
Library Lovers’ Day is a chance for members of the community to reconnect with the library and share the library love.
As part of the festivities, if you come into Picton Library between Monday 12 February and Saturday 17 February you can take home your very own ‘blind date’.
Readers can choose from one of Picton Library’s affectionately selected wrapped books and take a chance on finding a new love.
Mayor Judith Hannan said, “Who knows, you may discover a new author or genre you won’t be able to put down.”
“The library is a place full of romance, adventure and new possibilities, so I encourage everyone pay their community library a visit very soon.”
Kids can get involved as well, with a Library Lovers’ competition running for the whole month of February.
They can pick up an entry form and write down why they love their library, for a chance to win a ‘love’ly book pack. Winners will be notified by phone in early March.
The Library Lovers’ Day initiative is coordinated by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and aims to raise the profile of the services which libraries offer.
Australia’s public libraries provide quality information services that support lifelong learning, significantly impacting the cultural and information industry.
