Clr Michael Banasik receives ‘Outstanding Service’ Award at the Local Government NSW Annual Conference

Wollondilly Shire Council would like to congratulate Clr Michael Banasik for the double achievement of receiving the ‘Outstanding Service’ Award at the Local Government NSW Annual Conference and for his appointment to the Board of Directors for Local Government NSW (LGNSW).

Clr Banasik received the award in recognition of his 21 years of service in local government on Tuesday 19 October and received the offer from LGNSW President, Clr Keith Rhoades AFSM, to join the Board of Directors on 10 October 2016.

LGNSW President Keith Rhoades welcomed Clr Banasik to the Board, which will next meet in November.

"Clr Banasik brings with him more than 20 years of local government experience, and I am confident he will be an asset to our Board," he said.

"I look forward to working with him to help achieve the best possible outcomes for our sector and the communities it represents".

Clr Banasik is a recognised figure in the Wollondilly community and is a Patron of the Picton Show Society, Picton Historical Society and the Wollondilly Arts Group. As well as a member of Tahmoor Lions, Wollondilly Community Links and the Buxton Community Association

This appointment will allow me to strengthen relationships between my Council and other Council’s and will increase Wollondilly’s capacity to lobby for the views of local government to the State and Federal governments.” saidClr Michael Banasik.

Mayor Hannan congratulates Clr Banasik, saying “To be on the LGNSW Board of Directors is a highly sought after role and I would like to congratulate Clr Banasik on this achievement. His expertise in community services and serving local government will be an asset to the Board.”

LGNSW is the peak organisation that represents the interests of NSW local government and aims to strengthen and protect an effective, democratic system of local government across NSW. They achieve this by supporting and advocating on behalf of member councils and delivering a range of relevant, quality services.
