Community Groups Gear Up for Clean Up Australia Day
Posted on: 23.02.2018
Wollondilly Shire Council is encouraging residents, schools and businesses to become involved in this year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 4 March 2018.
Mayor Judith Hannan said, “This is the perfect opportunity to take a look around your local area - your streets, parks, sporting grounds, bush lands and waterways, to find those rubbish hotspots that need attention.”
Anyone can be involved, by volunteering at a registered site or by creating a new Clean Up Site online at www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au or by calling 1800 282 329.
Whether you create a new site or join an existing one, Clean Up Australia will send you a pack of materials to get you started including rubbish bags, some gloves, registration information and promotional material.
By encouraging friends and family to join your Clean Up Site you can make an even greater impact on the environment.
On the day, Council officers will visit the registered locations in Wollondilly to support the clean-up groups. We hope this event will once again make the most of our Shire’s natural assets so visitors and locals alike can enjoy the beauty of this unique and amazing area.
