Wollondilly Mayor Matthew Deeth and senior Council staff hosted the Consulate General of Japan, Mr Keizo Takewaka and Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation, Mr Hiroyuki Nakazato in Wollondilly yesterday.
Mr Takewaka and Mr Nakazato are particularly interested in the Western Sydney Airport and how local councils will be impacted by the associated future growth.
The visit provided an opportunity for Council to showcase some of the Shire’s tourism, agribusiness and growth areas, with the guests starting their tour at Warragamba Dam before enjoying the spectacular views at the Burragorang lookout.
After a drive through some of the Shire’s growth areas and heritage attractions, the guests were treated to a tour of the NSW Rail Museum at Thirlmere and a lunch featuring some fresh local produce.
Mayor Matthew Deeth said, “It was an honour to have these distinguished guests visit the area and a great chance to show off some of the unique features of our Shire.”
“Going forward, the Western Sydney Airport should provide Wollondilly with a link to the rest of the world, with even more opportunities to develop our tourism and agribusiness industries.”
