CORS Installation in Wollondilly

Wollondilly is the latest host of a Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS), the system is known as CORSnet-NSW. It is a precise positioning service that gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. It has been installed at the Picton Sportsground and is built, owned and operated by NSW Land Property and Information.
CORSnet-NSW is a network of permanent satellite navigation tracking stations. The network allows nearby equipment and machinery to accurately determine coordinates for positioning and guidance applications. CORSnet-NSW supports scientific research and industrial innovation in a variety of sectors.
The service gives users access to fast and accurate positioning and guidance solutions across NSW. In recent years, precise positioning and guidance systems have emerged as useful tools across a variety of applications such as:

Many fields of research are using CORSnet-NSW for applications including measuring continental movement, monitoring sea level rise and land subsidence following mining and resource removal, modelling river and flood waters and many others. CORSnet-NSW is also used in conjunction with aircraft operations and laser scanning technology known as LIDAR to create survey accurate aerial photographs and elevation models.
