Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) Consultation Invitation

Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils are inviting residents and service providers to attend a regional consultation focussed on ways to can make a community more inclusive and accessible to live, both now and into the future. The information derived from this forum will help develop each Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plans (DIAP).
Under the Disability Inclusion Act 2014, Councils are required to develop a Disability Inclusion Action Plan by July 2017. The Disability Inclusion Action Plan will outline how each local government will improve access to services, facilities and jobs in the future.

When: Thursday 17 November 2016
Where: Campbelltown Civic Hall, cnr Queen and Broughton Streets, Campbelltown
Time: 10am to 1pm (lunch provided)

Ally Dench, Executive Director Community Services & Corporate Support, believes that “The DIAP will go a long way towards changing the perceptions people may have about people with a disability and improve access for them. Wollondilly Shire Council’s DIAP will begin to focus more on ‘inclusion’ by integrating the DIAP into our regulatory requirements. We will focus on improving accessibility across Council events, projects and infrastructure.”
