Posted on: 25.08.2016
Thanks to the continued support of the Wollondilly Community and people from across NSW, Wollondilly Shire Council has opened Phase 3 of the Mayor’s Relief Fund.
Phase 3 opened on Monday 22 August and closes 4pm, Friday 2 September. To provide further support, Community Groups are encouraged to apply for funds of up to $5000 to enhance the provision of services and support available to people affected by the June 5 storm event.
Individuals and families affected by the 5 June storm event can also apply for financial support of up to $5,000 per residential address. Application forms can be collected from Council’s Administration Building at 62 Menangle Street Picton, or visit Council’s website, www.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au/resident-services/storm-information/to download the form.
In Phase 1 almost $25,000 was provided as emergency cash payments to 79 families or individuals with a further $112,000 distributed to 57 families or individuals in Phase 2.
General Manager, Luke Johnson said “The generosity of people is overwhelming. The fund has received donations from many fundraising activities across the whole Shire and from individuals wanting to help those affected by the June storm. Most recently “The Big Day In” raised over $45,000 which went directly to the relief fund”.
