National Simultaneous Storytime comes to Wollondilly Library

Posted on: 20.04.2016

On Wednesday 25 May 2016 from 10:30am, Picton Library will join over 3100 organisations, to collectively read the picture book ‘I got this hat’ to more than 500,000 children across Australia.

Storytime sessions are for children aged 0 – 5 and their carers. The session will start at 10:30am, so come on down to Wollondilly Shire Hall and be involved in the fun.  To celebrate ‘I got this hat’, we will be reading the story and there will be singing, craft and a whole lot of fun for the children. Every child who attends receives an entry in to the prize draw for a chance to win a copy of the book and ‘I got this hat’ bucket hat.

Now in its sixteenth successful year, National Simultaneous Storytime aims to celebrate and acknowledge the vital work being done in libraries, schools and communities around Australia to develop young people's literacy and numeracy skills.

The event has been organised by the Australian Library and Information Association, to promote the value of reading and literacy, the importance of Australia's book industry and the role of libraries.

I got this hatis written by Jol and Kate Temple, illustrated by Jon Foye, and published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.
