New Bin Enclosures in Botanic Gardens

Posted on: 26.05.2016

Council has received funding from the State Government’s ‘Better Waste and Recycling Fund’ to install dual bin enclosures in the Botanic Gardens.  Six enclosures have been installed around the main picnic areas, the Bowling Club and Hume Oval.

These enclosures allow for users of the gardens to recycle their waste, through the implementation of public place recycling.

Bin stands have also been installed along the bike path which will provide greater access and capacity for rubbish collection along the path. All the bins are 240L mobile garbage bins with the corresponding red lid for garbage and yellow lid for recycling.

The bin enclosures are a slatted wooden design with stainless steel hood and chute. Not only do they hold more rubbish, but they look great and will be easy to maintain in the long term.

Staff working at the gardens are excited about what these bin enclosures do for the look of the garden when it comes to waste removal. Garden staff have assisted by selecting the best location for them to be installed and will present the bins for collection every Monday.
