Picton Road Interchange Traffic Lights

Wollondilly Shire Council often advocates on behalf of its residents for improved outcomes within the community and in particular in relation to the condition of the roads within the Shire. Recently, Council has been advocating to State Government about the condition of the State Government owned roads in Wollondilly and the risks they pose to our residents using them on a daily basis.
Council has long been working closely with the local members Angus Taylor, Federal Member for Hume and Jai Rowell State Member for Wollondilly on safety at the interchange at Picton Road and the Hume Highway. Roads and Maritime Services has indicated to us that the installation of traffic lights at this interchange is almost complete with the switching on the traffic lights due by 31 March.
“I would like to congratulate Angus and Jai who have worked together on this project for a few years. I would also like to acknowledge the work of former Mayor, Cr Col Mitchell who strongly advocated for these safety improvements due to the crash history of the section of road. All levels of government working together have again proven a success for the outcome of our residents,” says Mayor, Cr Simon Landow.
Council has also recently advocated for more work to be done on Appin Road for the improvement of safety and a letter has been sent to the Hon. Duncan Gay, Minister for Roads outlining Council’s concern along this road.
