Seniors Week Activities

Wollondilly Shire Council has coordinated some great activities and events for Seniors Week from 1 – 8 April. Council works in partnership with not for profit organisations to provide a variety of activities. This year’s calendar includes two new activities with the inclusion of bus trips.
Seniors Debate – Friday 1 April from 9.15am to 11.30am
Senior scholars will debate Picton High School students in the popular annual Seniors Week Debate. Transport is available, please contact Emma on 46779550. Morning tea is provided.
The debate will be held at Picton High School, 480 Argyle Street, Picton.
The Oaks Historical Society Event – Monday 4 April from 10am to 2pm
The theme for this year is “My First Memorable Job” or “Mode of Transport”. Bring along your memories and photos and tell us the story. There will be the launch of the 2015 Storytelling book – My First Home. Light refreshments will be served at around 12.30pm and there will be a cost of $5 per person.
This event will be held at the Wollondilly Heritage Centre & Museum, 43 Edward Street, The Oaks. For information call the Heritage Centre on 4657 1796.
Trivia and Sing-along – Tuesday 5 April from 10am to 2pm
Join us for a fun filled two hours of trivia questions. There is $100 for the winning team and lucky door prizes to give away. Lunch is provided and sing-along entertainment with Sheila and Preston. Register your team today by contacting Emma on 4677 9550.
The event will be held at Tahmoor Community Centre, 6 Harper Close, Tahmoor.
Warragamba Expo – Wednesday 6 April from 10am to 2pm
There will be great stalls, activities and entertainment including mini health checks by the University of Western Sydney School of Medicine. The major focus for the Expo will be “healthy living”. There is a cost of $5 per person and this price includes a two course lunch.

Healthy Living Expo – Thursday 7 April from 10am to 2pm
There will be displays and demonstrations with a focus on “healthy living”. Mini health checks by University of Western Sydney will be provided along with hearing checks. Don’t miss the great activities, games and entertainment on offer. FREE event.

Bus Trip to the National Museum of Australia – Friday 8 April from 8.30am to 5pm
Leaving from Picton Bowling Club at 8.30am sharp, the bus will head to Canberra and return to the Picton Bowling Club by 5pm. Bring or buy your own refreshments. Tickets are $20 per person and are on sale at Wollondilly Shire Council. For information call 4677 1100. Tickets subsidised by Council.
Wollondilly Mystery Bus Tour – Friday 8 April 10am to 3pm
Join the Mystery Bus Tour which will take participants to a surprise location. Morning tea will be provided and the tour will stop somewhere for lunch. Meet at the front of Wollondilly Shire Council, Menangle Street, Picton. Tickets are $10 per person, lunch not included. Tickets are for sale at Wollondilly Shire Council.
