Stakeholders Help Shape Wollondilly’s Future
Posted on: 12.02.2016
On Wednesday 10 February, a range of local and regional community stakeholders gathered at Picton Bowling Club to provide input into the Draft Wollondilly Social Planning Strategy (SPS).
The workshop gathered the ideas and suggestions from over 70 representatives from organisations and groups working directly with the community. The aim of the workshop was to develop an implementation plan that will outline how to address the challenges and seize opportunities identified in the draft document.
The draft Social Planning Strategy has been developed over the past 8 months and has come about as a result of our involvement with the Wollondilly Health Alliance. The draft document is based on previous consultations, current research, government policy and relevant statistics.
General Manager Luke Johnson said:
“With Wollondilly set to grow, particularly with the development of a major new town at Wilton Junction, the Social Planning Strategy will be a key document in helping us to understand our social landscape and our key issues now and into the future.
It was encouraging to see so many people in attendance ready to work together and I look forward to the many positive initiatives that will arise from the workshop”.
Outcomes from the workshop will be incorporated into the draft Social Planning Strategy and presented to Council prior to going on public exhibition in the coming months.
