Wollondilly Shire Council is looking to upgrade the facilities at Tahmoor Sportsground to a district level sporting complex, through funding from the Western Parkland City Liveability Program.

Council has been working with the local community and user groups to create a draft master plan for the transformation of the popular sportsground.

Acting Director Infrastructure & Environment, Mike Nelson said, “Before we continue with our process, we want to make sure that we have heard the community correctly and are on the right track in our planning.”

“We want to provide an upgraded, streamlined and inclusive sports complex at Tahmoor that accommodates diverse user groups and has something to offer the whole community.”

“The master plan will provide a guiding vision for the next 10 to 15 years and includes a new centrally located building, realigned sports fields, facilities and recreational areas,” he said.

The Tahmoor Sportsground transformation is one of four projects identified by Council which would be eligible for funding through the Liveability Program.

Council is working hard to have the master plan developed in time to submit an application through the City Deals Liveability Fund program, which opens mid-2019, to access substantial funding to begin the first stage of works.

Council will be holding a pop-up community kiosk at Tahmoor Sportsground on Saturday 29 June to ask for feedback on the draft plan. Interested community members will be able to view the initial concepts for the upgrade, speak with staff representatives, and tell them what they think.
