Wollondilly Shire Council will celebrate National Reconciliation Week with the launch of the 10th Anniversary of the Together Arts Exhibition at 10am on Thursday 2 June at the Wollondilly Shire Hall.
The Together Arts Exhibition provides a valuable learning opportunity for primary and secondary students to celebrate unity and reconciliation with the local Aboriginal community, and to create visual arts in different mediums that reflect the National Reconciliation Week theme.
National Reconciliation Week’s theme is Our History, Our Story, Our Future which asks all Australians to reflect on our national identity, and the place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and rights in our nation’s story.
“Together Arts is an annual exhibition and I’m always impressed by the creativity and the ideas presented by the children. I’m sure this year will be the same,” says Mayor, Cr Simon Landow.
Didgeridoo and Clap Stick players will welcome people to the exhibition with a local dance troupe performing contemporary dances during the launch.
The 3 day exhibition is open Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd June from 10am till 4pm and Saturday 4th June from 9 am till 12 noon.
