Wollondilly Shire Council’s newly reopened Visitor Information Centre (VIC) has received accreditation through Destination NSW, The Tourism Group & AVIC.
On Friday the new VIC achieved Level 2 Accreditation (up from Level 3) and was described as “refreshing, exciting and innovative”.
The assessor was particularly impressed with the range of local products from producers, artisans and the Aboriginal community – he even purchased a set of clap sticks!
He was very impressed with the staff’s enthusiasm and knowledge of the “local story.”
Mayor Judith Hannan said, “The Visitor Information Centre is an important resource for tourism in our Shire and it is encouraging to see it running so successfully in its new location.”
The VIC had been operating from Council’s administration building since its original home in the Old Post Office building was damaged in the flood event of June 2016. It reopened in the Shire Hall on 8 November 2017.
The new opening hours are 8am-4pm Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday and Sunday.
