Posted on: 17.02.2017

Residents will soon be able to view Wollondilly’s Ordinary Council Meetings from their home as it is streamed live from Council’s chambers. The first meeting to be live streamed will be on Monday 20 February at 6.30pm until 8.30pm. The webcast of the meetings can be accessed on Council’s website and viewed on any computer or smart device and will also be made accessible to the public after the event.

The result of a Council Resolution by Cr Gould in October 2016, the motion was passed by 8 of the 9 Councillors. The multi-camera setup has been tailored to suit Council’s specific needs with 3 cameras in 3 different locations to offer a broader view of each meeting.

Mayor Judith Hannan said, “This is a great accomplishment for Council as it is one step closer to bringing the Wollondilly community closer together, irrespective of the geographical distance between each town and village.”

General Manager for Council, Luke Johnson said “Local government has a very broad range of responsibilities and makes decisions that can affect the whole community. Webcasting our Council meetings is an excellent way to enhance access to the democratic decision-making process.”

Webcasts of the meetings will also be archived on Council’s website to view at a time that suits you. To allow for easy viewing meeting webcasts will be saved in chapters that match the agenda so that residents can easily navigate to the agenda item that they are interested in.
