Wollondilly Smart Shire Strategy goes on Exhibition
Posted on: 09.03.2018
Wollondilly Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community on its draft Smart Shire Strategy, which is on public exhibition from 7 March to 6 April 2018.
The draft Smart Shire Strategy aims to capture the priorities previously identified by the community and highlight ways that technology can be used in Wollondilly to create modern, creative, sustainable and liveable neighbourhoods.
Smart cities and towns leverage new digital technology – such as public Wi-Fi, sensors, big data and analytics, online services, smart devices, and real time information – to improve productivity, liveability, creativity and sustainability.
Some the of smart technologies already implemented by Wollondilly Shire Council include webcasting of Council meetings, a Development Application (DA) Tracker enquiry portal and public Wi-Fi access at the library building and surrounds in Picton.
Mayor of Wollondilly, Judith Hannan said: “Smart technologies can provide Wollondilly with opportunities for improved connectivity and productivity, as well as new economic prospects.”
“Wollondilly is a dynamic shire, and we are committed to realising the great benefits of the digital revolution for our community,” she said.
The Draft Strategy can be viewed online at www.engage.wollondilly.nsw.gov.au or alternatively, hard copies can be viewed at Council’s Administration Building (62-64 Menangle Street, Picton) or Wollondilly Library (42 Menangle Street, Picton).
