 2020 Australia Day Nominations 

Australia Day Award Nominations are now open all year round for the Celebrations on 26 January 2020, which means you can put your nomination in straight away when the opportunity arises instead of waiting until later in the year. 

Do you know someone in our local community who is worthy? Nominations recognise those people who contribute to our local community across a variety of categories. Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen, Sportsperson, Achiever Categories and local hero/organisation.

The Australia Day 2020 Celebrations

Kicking off at 8:00 am with a Free BBQ breakfast of bacon & egg rolls and tea and coffee, Wollondilly will welcome new citizens during the Citizenship Ceremony and will recognise the valuable contributions local residents make to our community through the Australia Day Awards.

The Australia Day and Citizenship Ceremony commences at 9:00 am with an official flag parade by the  and welcome by Mayor Cr Matthew Deeth.

The Mayoral Fishing Competition will be held down by the duck pond from 8:00 am till 12:00 pm and is for children under 15 years. It is designed to foster a sense of responsibility for the local environment and assist in the regeneration of the aquatic habitat within the Botanic Gardens. Participants must have adult supervision at all times.

 Some of the overall highlights of the day include:

•Raising of the Australian, Aboriginal & Wollondilly Flag
• Citizenship & Affirmation Ceremony
•Presentation of Australia Day Awards
•Australia Day Ambassador – TBC
•FREE Breakfast – Bacon & egg on a roll, tea,coffee & bottled water, Cuppa & Lamington
•FREE Sausage Sizzle lunch
•Live Entertainment performing throughout the day:

  • The Highlands Pipes & Drums,
  • Picton Harmony, &
  • Local Wollondilly Dance Schools 

•FREE Activities by Wollondilly Road Safety Group, the Dilly Wanderer & the Mobile Library

• Lots of FREE family activities including Face Painters, Snake Pit Display, Petting Zoo, Jumping Castles, AND More.... 

• Wollondilly Shire Council & other Local Displays

• Local Community Group Displays
