Community Bus

The Wollondilly Shire Council Community Bus is available for use by community groups within the Shire for a nominal fee.

About the Community Bus

Council’s Community Bus is available to local non-profit community based organisations and groups, to provide services which directly and significantly benefit either the whole of the Wollondilly community, or a specific target group within the Wollondilly area. The bus is provided to assist those sections of our community that are transport disadvantaged. Council maintains a register of authorised volunteers drivers for the community bus only drivers listed in that register are eligible to drive the bus.

Yes! To become an authorised driver of the vehicle, the driver must complete the volunteer community bus driver form and provide a copy of your current Class LR or above drivers licence. New drivers must complete a 2hr orientation course including a familiarisation drive with a heavy vehicle driving instructor prior to driving the community bus for any community groups. Our volunteer community bus drivers will not incur any out of pocket expense.

From 1 July 2019 a fee of $30.00 (GST inclusive) per booking within the Shire and $57.00 (GST inclusive) per booking outside of the Shire.

You may cover 300km on a round trip when you hire the bus. The bus is provided with a full tank of fuel when the user collects it from the Council depot and it must be returned with a full tank of fuel.

Council maintains a register of authorised drivers; only drivers listed in that register are eligible to have control of the vehicle at any time.
