Preventing & Managing Bushfires
Council undertakes various strategies throughout the year to reduce the likelihood of a bushfire event. In the instance of a bushfire event council provides support to the emergency services to maintain the fire. Here are some things we do to help minimise the impact of a bushfire;
- Provide logistical support to emergency services during a fire event
- Operate under agreement with the RFS for planning and operational support
- Activate Wollondilly
- Hazard reduction works along roadsides
- Local Emergency Management Committee
- Vegetation management
- Provides an after hours call service
