No Right Turn - Menangle Street / Argyle Street, Picton
To improve traffic flow through Picton Town Centre, a “No Right Turn” on Menangle St at Argyle St will be implemented on Wednesday 7 April 2021.
A detour route is available via Colden St and Margaret St – see map for details.
Why is this Intersection Becoming a No Right Turn?
Council has considered the effects of this change to traffic on Colden St and Margaret St. Studies show that the majority of traffic is already using this route instead of turning right at Menangle St/Argyle St to head north towards Camden.
The traffic lights at the Argyle St/Margaret St intersection have been configured by TfNSW to accommodate any additional traffic wait times using this detour route.
This follows the ‘Picton Town Centre Transport Plan - 2026 Master Plan’ adopted by Council, a strategy to improve traffic conditions in Picton.
Other Traffic Improvements
Other traffic improvements which will progressively be introduced from the Master Plan include:
- The relocation of the pedestrian crossing on Argyle St (in front of Newsagent) further to the north (in front of Macarthur Credit Union) – now complete
- Traffic signals at the Prince St / Menangle St intersection – awaiting design
- Safety upgrades at Argyle St / Barkers Lodge Rd intersection – nearing completion
Please drive carefully!
