Safety Upgrade - Argyle Street / Barkers Lodge Road, Picton
Feb. 4 — Apr. 4, 2021
Argyle Street / Barkers Lodge Road
Council will be undertaking a safety upgrade of the intersection of Argyle St and Barkers Lodge Road.
The work is programmed to commence on Thursday the 4th February.
The work will be completed in multiple stages over an 8 week period.
The first stage of works is to install new kerb and gutter on the Picton Ave/Argyle St Intersection. This work will be undertaken during the day. The road width allows this work to be undertaken WITHOUT stopping traffic so will have minimal disruption. Asphalting of the intersection will be undertaken later and will be completed at night due to the disruption.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are we doing this concurrently with the Victoria Bridge Closure?
The bridge work is not being undertaken by Council and is a TfNSW project and is expected to continue to at least June. Due to funding constraints, it is not possible for Council to wait until Victoria Bridge is finished. The Council project at Barkers Lodge Road/Argyle St has been staged so as to maintain traffic flow without disruption. The asphalt work to be completed in a later stage, which will be disruptive, will be completed at night.
Why don’t we do all projects at night?
As mentioned, each project is looked at individually. Safety, anticipated disruption, cost and economic impact are all considered.
Why are we upgrading this intersection?
Council received a grant to undertake the improvements based on traffic data and history.
