Updates
18 February 2021
In response to community feedback, the Traffic Plan has been reviewed for phase one of works at the Finns Road/Remembrance Driveway roundabout. A new lane arrangement is in operation from today.
Traffic on Remembrance Driveway heading north to Camden will now be required to merge right to continue. New signage is in place to warn drivers of the change.
Please use caution when travelling through the construction site and stick to the enforced 40km/hr speed limit.
Background
The intersection of Remembrance Driveway and Finns Road will be upgraded to improve road user safety and increase traffic flow.
Council has successfully secured funding through the State Government’s Safer Roads program to upgrade the intersection to a dual lane roundabout.
The project commenced with traffic engineers assessing various lane arrangements to work out the best option for traffic flow at the intersection. The design was based on the types of traffic accidents, current traffic types and volumes and projected growth.
The assessment resulted in a two lane roundabout with an additional approach lane from Finns Rd. Civil engineers then took this concept and developed into a detailed design.
This is a known black spot with a history of traffic incidents at the intersection. The roundabout will serve to slow traffic down and the alternative solution of traffic lights would not be as efficient as a roundabout.
Council ran an open tender for a construction contractor in which the local company TRN Group were successful.
Details
The upgrade will introduce a large diameter dual lane roundabout with a second approach lane for Finns Rd, widened shoulders, non-skid road surface treatment, kerb and gutter, traffic calming features (new road alignments/levels, splitter islands, line marking and signage) and street lighting.

Impacts During Construction
The project will involve major road works with significant changes to traffic flow. Construction will be conducted in phases with each phase implementing a new intersection arrangement.
Reduced speed limits will be imposed throughout the project for the safety of road users and site staff.
Traffic delays are to be expected and road users are advised to plan for this in advance.
