The Project
During Wednesday 2 March 2022 storms, the approach roads to Cataract River Bridge in Broughton Pass sustained some significant damage.
Broughton Pass is now open to alternating traffic, with traffic lights in place to manage the one way section of the road.
We are resourcing the project to make sure we can fully re-open the road as soon as possible. Delays are expected, and we recommend you only use this route if you really need to.
The path forward:
- Long term repair investigations will commence following road re-opening and will involve periodic traffic stoppages.
- Based on initial inspections it is anticipated that the longer term repairs necessary to allow full re-opening of the road will take up to 6 months, subject to ongoing weather issues and sub-surface investigations.
- Access and traffic management requirements for the construction works required for the full reopening will be advised as the construction methods are finalised.
- Please note, all timeframes are subject to the weather.
