Wollondilly Shire experienced record rainfall throughout March and April of 2022 during what had already been a wet summer. The heavy rainfall triggered geotechnical instability across the shire which caused significant damage to Council road infrastructure through landslides and rock falls.
Council is in the process of repairing road damage sites through assistance of NSW Disaster Assistance funding.
Old Razorback Road has suffered:
- A large upslope landslide
- Two minor upslope landslides
- A downslope landslide
All upslope landslides have been cleared of debris. The two minor slides will not require further remediation. The large landslides have had field investigations undertaken to design retaining structures which will allow the road to be reconstructed and opened to normal traffic movements.
The road will be closed until the landslides have been remediated. Please allowed additional travel time as an alternate route is required.
