Mayor's Message - September 2023
Posted on: 13.09.2023
G'Day Everyone,
August was a big month in Wollondilly as I had the pleasure of officially opening a whole bunch of newly constructed and renovated facilities across the Shire. It has been a real treat to see so many of these long-term projects brought to life for our community to use and enjoy.
The recent sunny weather has helped Council staff and contractors add the final touches to these fantastic buildings and facilities. Funding from the Federal and State Government helped make them possible - so thank you to our local Federal and State Members for your contributions and to the community groups who advocated for them to happen.
The newly completed facilities include:
- The Tahmoor District Sporting Complex Building – part of a regional centre that will attract sporting groups from all over NSW and keep our community active and connected, with support from Western Sydney City Deals, Greater Cities Sports Facility Fund, Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program, and Resources for Regions
- Wollondilly Children’s Services Building – this state-of-the-art building is already being enjoyed by local families and was funded through the Western Sydney City Deals and Start Strong (NSW Dept of Education)
- The Old Picton Post Office Coworking Space – the refurbished historic building has started a new phase of life as an accessible space for workers, restored with help from the Australian and NSW Governments
- Dudley Chesham All Abilities Playspace at The Oaks – a fun space where ‘everyone can play’ was made possible with funding from the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program
- Appin AIS Netball Courts – renewal of the existing court, construction of an additional courts and new lighting, paths and fencing will help the Appin Waratahs club get ready for the future, with help from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
Make sure you pay a visit to these amazing facilities.
Mayor Matt Gould
