Draft Temporary Food Business Policy Review
Closes: May 27, 2024, 5:00 PM
NOW On Public Exhibition
The current Temporary Food Business Policy was adopted by Council on 18 February 2019.
All non-fixed businesses operating at markets and/or temporary events must comply with the NSW Food Authority’s Guidelines for Food Businesses at Temporary Events and/or the NSW Food Authority’s ‘Guidelines for Mobile Food Vending Vehicles’.
In recent years there has been a growth in the number of markets, festivals, fetes and agricultural shows throughout Wollondilly Shire. Council recognises the diverse opportunities that temporary food businesses bring to the local community, visitors and the economy.
Due to the rise in popularity of the temporary food business model and its flexible nature, there is a need to ensure that satisfactory food safety and public health standards and outcomes are maintained.
The Policy seeks to provide clarity to temporary food business operators on fit-out requirements for temporary food stalls and provide clear direction in the administration and inspection of food businesses operating at temporary events within Wollondilly Shire.
The Policy applies to all non-fixed food businesses operating at markets and temporary events.
The Policy does not consider:
- Applications for mobile food vending vehicle and roadside stalls.
- Temporary food businesses trading on private property or operating as roadside vending.
