The Department of Planning and Environment announced the two release areas for North Appin and West Appin totalling 15,900 homes for Wollondilly. The assessment of these Planning Proposals along with another area located in the Campbelltown LGA will be conducted by the Department of Planning and Environment. The Larger Appin/Gilead area will provide an additional 19,000 dwellings between Campbelltown and Wollondilly.
Council’s position on the growth area is Appin is a long-term prospect and the announcement is a disappointment to Council. The essential infrastructure, road connections, public transport, schools hospitals and other essential services have not been identified for Wilton let alone the Appin area. If this development goes ahead it will effectively triple the population of Wollondilly Shire.
