Council has supported a proposal to name the new park at Appin ‘Toggerai Park’, subject to endorsement by the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council and relevant Elders.
The park on Appin Road is being delivered by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure as part of the NSW Government’s Parks for People program. Once construction is complete, the site will be transferred to Council ownership.
Construction commenced on 2 October 2024 as part of the NSW Government’s Parks for People program.
Set among natural bushland, once complete the park will include an all-ages play and adventure area, picnic facilities, amenities, bush trails and a double flying fox.
The project also includes a koala corridor boundary, with 40 hectares set aside on neighbouring National Parks and Wildlife land for bush regeneration works to help protect koala habitat.

The new park will be located within the 23-hectare site alongside Appin Road, less than 1 km north of Appin town centre.
The park will be developed on existing pastureland to create new recreational space while protecting the area’s environmental and Aboriginal cultural heritage values.
