In September 2023 we invited feedback about proposed options for place and destination signage around the Shire.

The consultation helped us understand community sentiment and we revised the preferred design to incorporate community feedback. Council has now adopted the signage design package with some adjustments. The initial focus of the engagement was on Shire entry signage and the adopted design will also be used for other signage including town and village entry signage, street blade signage, sportsground and facilities signage, and other signage. Entry signage for the Shire, as well as villages and towns, needs to ensure clarity and simplicity so road users can read the signs quickly.

The Need for New Signs

Signage plays a vital role in creating a sense of place, welcoming visitors, providing information, and contributing to the overall identity and branding of our Shire.

To date, signage around the Shire has been inconsistent, and some signs need to be replaced because they are damaged or have been removed.

The current Council branding - including the 'ribbon W' logo, colours and fonts - was introduced in 2015. It's used on our website, forms, correspondence, banners, uniforms and vehicles, so incorporating it into signage across the Shire will continue the implementation of current branding.

The adopted signage design aims to be clear and cohesive.
