Green Bin
Waste Type: Garden Organics
Collection Schedule: Fortnightly
Size Options: 240L
Accepted Items
- Dry and green leaves
- All types of weeds
- Flower cuttings
- Sticks and small branches (maximum 1m long and 15mm thick)
- Fruit or vegetable garden waste (still attached to vine or branch)
- Palm fronds (maximum 1m long and cut in half)
- Plant and shrub pruning's (maximum 1m long)
- Lawn clippings (make sure the bin isn't overly compacted to avoid not emptying properly during collection)

- Soft plastics and garbage
- Dead animals
- Food waste
- Tree stumps or logs
- Painted or treated timber
- Rocks or soil

Waste Service Options & Pricing
Council provides different waste services depending on your property type. Most properties receive a standard three-bin service, with red bins collected weekly and yellow and green bins collected fortnightly on alternating weeks. Additional bin options are also available through the Bin Request Forms. Explore what services apply to your property, collection frequencies and pricing.
Residential Properties
Residential properties are provided a three-bin service with red bins collected weekly and yellow and green bins collected fortnightly on alternating weeks.

Rural Properties
The standard three-bin service is now available to all residential properties. Some existing rural properties have opted out of a green bin until the introduction of FOGO and currently only receive a two-bin service, with red bins collected weekly and yellow bins collected fortnightly.

Commercial / Business Properties
Commercial properties receive red bins collected weekly and yellow bins collected fortnightly. If required, a green bin can be supplied as an additional bin. Council Clean-Up services are not available to commercial properties but business owners can consider engaging a commercial waste provider.

Collection requirements
- Check there isn't anything blocking your bins so the truck can easily access them
- Ensure cars aren't parked in the turning areas of a cul-de-sac or road on bin collection days
- Always place your bins out the night before your collection day
- Collection times can vary slightly due to changes in bin truck schedules, public holidays and severe weather
- If your bin collection is missed, report it to Council within 2 working days of your bin day. It will be collected by the end of the next working day (Monday–Friday)

Waste Service Requirements & Exemptions
Requirements
Homes, domestic properties and retirement villages on streets serviced by Council must pay the Domestic Waste Management Charge, unless exempt.
This charge covers Council’s domestic bin service:
- General waste (red bin)
- Recycling (yellow bin)
- Garden organics, where provided (green bin)
Exemptions
Rural and Residential Zones: exempt where Council cannot provide the service as a result of location, street access or site layout issues, or where the property was using a non-Council waste service on 1 July 2013.
Commercial and Industrial Zones: exempt where the property was using a non-Council waste service on 1 July 2005.
Does my rural property need to have a green bin?
Council expanded the Garden Organics (green bin) service from 1 July 2026, to include rural properties and households that didn't have a green bin service. This is part of Council’s new waste collection contract and our commitment to sustainable waste management. This expansion also supports Council’s preparation for the future introduction of the NSW Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) program, which all councils are required to implement by the NSW Government by 2030.
