    At the May meeting of Council, Wollondilly’s draft Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy 2025-2030 was supported to go on public exhibition.

    The Strategy aims to address waste management challenges and opportunities in the Wollondilly Shire over the next five years with a focus on forward planning for growth, building on the foundation of the work that has already been done.

  • Council helping seniors get social during Wollondilly Seniors Festival 2021

    Many seniors in the Wollondilly have found 2020 and early 2021 to be a difficult and isolating time due to the impacts of Covid-19.

    Council is pleased to be able to invite local seniors back out in to the community to celebrate Wollondilly Seniors Festival 2021.

    More than half of Wollondilly’s population lives in rural and rural-residential areas, where Sydney Water’s sewer system is unavailable. As such, there are over 8000 on-site sewage management systems installed in the Shire.

    Most of these systems are septic tanks and aerated wastewater treatment systems (AWTS). Other types of systems include pump-outs, mounds, reed beds, sand filters, biological filtration systems and wet composting units.

    Wollondilly Council has opened a special round of community grants today in response to the current Covid-19 outbreak in NSW.

    The new program offers grants to Wollondilly based not-for-profit charitable organisations to provide support to residents experiencing severe financial hardship as a result of Covid-19 related loss of income.
