Cobbitty Bridge is located on the boundary between Wollondilly and Camden Local Government Areas.

The roads on the approach to the bridge and the bridge have been closed since damage occurred following the July 2022 flood event, the largest flood of the past four events.

A large area of embankment on the Camden side of the bridge was part of a landslip into the river resulting in a large area of road collapsing.

Camden Council is working with specialist consultants to conduct investigations and design a suitable repair solution.

Council will provide an update when more information is available.

Piling works have been completed and works remain on track for completion by end of February 2023 weather permitting.

Quotations from contractors were received on 7 October
Evaluation has been completed and the successful contractor has been appointed.
Works are scheduled to begin the week of 24 October and be completed late February 2023 subject to weather conditions.

Update 5 September from Camden Council
• Geotech testing has been completed.
• Concept designs have been completed and a preferred option has been selected.
• Quotations are currently being sought with construction timeframes to be confirmed as part of this process.

Update 11 August from Camden Council
We’re progressing works on Cobbitty Bridge as quickly as possible with Geotech testing happening onsite today. Consultants have been engaged and have provided a preliminary design. The design development of the preferred option is expected to be completed by the end of August 2022. Once this has been completed, we will be able to provide a timeframe for construction and bridge reopening. We have considered the potential for pedestrian access across the bridge and it has been deemed unsafe to allow this to happen. We know this may come as a further disappointment however safety is paramount and we will always put the safety of our community first. We understand the impact of this bridge closure on both Camden and Wollondilly residents is significant. Please know we are working hard to reopen Cobbitty Bridge as soon as possible.
